Mission Statement
The Red Knights Maryland Chapter 2 was created to represent the International Firefighters Motorcycle Club at a local level, with honor and respect. We will represent and support all of the Associations, Chapters, and their members to enhance the welfare, growth and brotherhood of the International organization. The Red Knights is a fraternal firefighting family that shares the interest of motorcycling by promoting motorcycle education and safety.
History
In April of 2008, there were four Chapters of Red Knights on the Delmarva Peninsula. Two Chapters in Maryland (MD3 in Ocean City & MD7 in Sudlersville) and two Chapters in Delaware (DE1 in Wilmington & DE2 in Rehobeth). These Chapters had a tremendous amount of territory to cover, over three states on the Eastern Shore. Maryland Chapter 3 covered all of Virginia's Eastern Shore all the way up to Queen Anne county in Maryland. Maryland Chapter 7 covered Northern Maryland and parts of Delaware because they were close to the state line. Delaware Chapter 1 covered Northern Delaware and Delaware Chapter 2 covered Southern Delaware.
At that time, fifteen Active Members from Maryland Chapter 3, living in the Mid-Shore area, saw the need for a Mid-Shore Chapter. This Chapter could assist the other Chapters in covering the territory in the middle of Maryland and Delaware. To enhance the community focus of each Chapter on a more local level. On May 20, 2008, the International Corporation of the Red Knights authorized and issued our Charter to establish our Maryland Chapter 2 in Easton, Maryland. We soon came up with a nickname for MD2, which is the LUCKY DEUCE.
Lucky Deuce is responsible for territory that covers Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester and Queen Anne counties in Maryland and parts of Kent county in Delaware. We started with fifteen members and now have doubled the membership in just four months. We still have room for additional members if you like riding motorcycles in a group, helping others in need, serving your local community and having fun doing it.
Our requirements for membership is that you must have been involved with a local Fire Department or Brigade (in the past or present), have a valid motorcycle license and have access to a motorcycle. If you are interested and can meet these requirements, please go to the "New Members" page for an application or talk to one of the current members. |
